Sagaru Privacy Policy
Who we are
This policy explains what personal information Sagaru collects, why, who sees it, and the choices you have. It covers our website, the expert application and testing process, and the Sagaru platform.
Sagaru is run by [Company legal name], a company registered in Nigeria at [Registered address]. We decide how your information is used, which makes us the "data controller" under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Where we serve people in the UK or EU, we also follow the UK and EU data protection rules (GDPR).

How we use your information
We use your information to check that you are a genuine expert and to connect you with paid work.
- Running your account: creating your account, letting you sign in and showing you your application status.
- Testing and vetting: giving you the domain test and job role tests, checking your credentials, and deciding whether you become a Vetted Expert.
- Matching you to work: showing you job roles you can apply for, and showing your profile to AI lab clients looking for experts like you.
- Keeping tests fair: using recordings and cheating checks to confirm the person taking the test is you, working alone.
- Contacting you: sending emails about your application, results and opportunities.
- Improving Sagaru: understanding how people use the platform so we can fix problems and make it better.
- Meeting the law: keeping records we are required to keep, and responding to lawful requests.
How AI is used in your assessment
An AI system marks your test answers and gives you a score. If your score is below the pass mark, your application does not move forward. If it is above, a human reviewer looks at your answers and credentials and makes the final decision to approve or reject you. Reviewers cannot change your score.
Because a low AI score can stop your application, you can ask for a person to look at your result again (see Your rights).
Test recordings
Your camera must be on and recorded during every test. Reviewers mainly read the written transcript rather than watching the video. We keep the recording in case something needs checking, for example a suspected cheating case or a question about your result. We tell you before each test that it will be recorded, and you can choose not to continue.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Our legal reasons for using your information
The law only lets us use your information when we have a valid reason. Ours are:
| Reason | When we rely on it |
|---|---|
| To provide the service you asked for | Running your account, testing you, matching you to work |
| Your permission | Recording you during tests, sharing your profile with AI lab clients, marketing emails |
| Our legitimate interests | Preventing cheating and fraud, keeping the platform secure, improving Sagaru |
| Legal duty | Keeping records the law requires, responding to authorities |
Where we rely on your permission, you can withdraw it at any time. This will not affect anything we did before you withdrew it, but it may mean you cannot continue with tests or be shown to clients.
Where we store it, how we protect it, and how long we keep it
Your information may be stored on servers outside Nigeria, for example in the UK, EU or US. When it leaves Nigeria, we make sure it gets the same level of protection the Nigeria Data Protection Act requires, for example through contracts with our providers.
We protect your information with secure connections, limited staff access by role, and secure cloud storage. No system is perfectly safe, so if a breach puts you at risk, we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| To provide the service you asked for | While your account is open, plus [2 years] |
| Your permission | [12 months] after the decision on your application |
| Our legitimate interests | While your account is open, plus [2 years] |
| Legal duty | [12 months] after rejection, so we can apply retake rules |
| Device and usage data | [13 months] |
After these periods we delete your information or remove anything that identifies you.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- See the information we hold about you and get a copy.
- Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
- Delete your information, unless the law requires us to keep it.
- Take it with you in a common file format.
- Object to how we use it, or ask us to limit its use.
